Manuel Cano, Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Manuel was introduced to sports at a very young age while tagging along with his older brothers. Having a very competitive drive and desire to win, through his youth Manuel excelled in YMCA basketball and Little League baseball. In six grade after years of trying to convince his parents to sign him up for Colusa Cowboys, they agreed. Football quickly became his favorite sport, where he moved from linemen to running back. The three years on the Cowboys included two championships and one runner up, losing only three games in that time span.
In high school Manuel continued being involved in football, basketball and track. Manuel was one of the skinniest guys on the football team and average size for basketball. But as they say, it’s not the size of the dog, it’s the size of the fight in the dog. Manuel took it into his own hands to dedicate himself to the weight room and condition himself. Manuel's hard work paid off as he was a huge contributor for Pierce's Northern Section Championships in football, basketball and track in 2004-05.
After high school Manuel found it hard to balance being a full-time student, working full-time and finding the time to work out. Manuel wound up getting tired of the same gym routine because he lacked the result he was looking for. Manuel attended a CrossFit event held in Elk Grove where Josh and Erica worked out. Still unsure of what to do, Manuel tried different types of work out routines including going back to the gym, boxing, running, and biking. He then realized that he wanted something where he could compete and give him the extra drive to train harder. Manuel thought back to that competition and the he witnessed one could get from CrossFit.
